Area Information

Education is thriving in San Antonio.  Colleges and Universities are abundant.  The University of TX at San Antonio, Texas A&M University-San Antonio, University of Texas Health Science Center @ San Antonio, Our Lady of the Lake University, The Culinary Institute of AmericaTrinity University, St.Mary’s UniversityThe Alamo Community College District, the University of the Incarnate Word, are all found within the  City of San Antonio.

Like many other larger cities, San Antonio is not short on transportation options either.  The San Antonio International Airport can be found just a few miles from downtown.  There is an Amtrak train station, located at San Antonio Station. The VIA Metropolitan Transit is another way to commute, within the city limits, and the surrounding suburbs.  For those who prefer to drive, there is no shortage of Interstates and US Highways.

San Antonio loves the Arts.  From outdoor sculptures to Art Festivals,  Galleries,  Artist Studios,  Museums, and First Fridays Art Walks, San Antonio is bustling in the Arts!  Museums include the Witte Museum,  which is a science and history museum. The Witte Museum has children’s exhibits, dinosaurs and also has a free admission day!.  Another free admission Museum is found at the Steves Homestead of 1876.  This 3 level historic mansion, is part of the King William Historic District and is a great way to take a peek into the past.  Looking for more history, how about visiting the San Antonio Museum of Art.  This museum hosts approximately 5000 years of historical culture and art from around the globe. The San Antonio Museum of Art also includes a free admission day, twice a week!  If you like blown-glass artwork, don’t forget a stop by the San Antonio Central Library, where world known artist Dale Chihuly sculpture of blown-glass hangs magnificently displayed.
