Wilson County Real Estate 

Wilson County Texas is a section of the statical area of San Antonio-New Braunfels area.  Part of the Southern Texas Coastal Plain, the largest city is Floresville.  Floresville is located just southeast of San Antonio.  There are 4 highways that connect to it.  These are Texas State Highways 97 and 123, and U.S. Highways87 and 181. The land mass of Wilson county is about 807 miles with elevations of between 300 and 600 feet above sea level.  Climates are within the subtropic type, with lows in the 40s in winter, highs into the 90s in summer.  Most of the land of Wilson County is of flat terrain with the occasional slight rolling of the surface lands.  Soils here are mainly clay and with sandy and dusty composition.  Almost 40 percent of the land of Wilson County is considered lands prime for farming.  Growing seasons average approximately 280 days.  Crops grown in the area include peaches, watermelons, pecans, peanuts, corn, wheat, oats, sorghum, and hay. Within the eastern section of the county, the waters are drained by the Ecleto and Cibolo creeks, while in the western portion it is the San Antonio.

Populations for Wilson County are split up within their cities, towns, and communities, with most living in Floresville area. Other towns and communities of Wilson  County include Pandora with a population under 200, Poth, LaVernia, Sutherland Springs, Stockdale, Calaveras, Carpenter, Kicaster, Pandora, and Saspamco.  There are also 3 abandoned/Ghost Towns- Doseido Colony, Grass Pond Colony, and Sandy Hills.

The Jailhouse was built in 1887 and was the actual jail through to 1974.  Located on the Wilson County Courthouse square, the Jailhouse Museum holds a vast array of things including photos from the historical days gone by.  The floorplan and cells of the original jail are still intact.  Which considering it was built in 1887, this in itself makes this a must stop to see.           

The Courthouse was built in 1884 and was designed by the architect Alfred Giles of San Antonio.  Its Italian style is breathtaking and grand.  The buildings craftmanship is not overly ornate but filled with details that capture the eyes.  The Courthouse became a part of the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and is also a Texas State Recorded Landmark (1984).

No longer able to serve as a crossing point for travelers, Mueller Bridge was just this for 70 years!  This is a multi-span Warren polygonal chord bridge. Completed in 1915 its floor is wood and the metal truss is 252 feet. The bridge is losing its’ ground around it that has supported it for over a century.  It is listed on the National Historic Register. There are only 2 known bridges of this type in the State of Texas. Be sure to stop to see this while in Wilson County Texas.
